SHEILA MCCARTHY
BJP Associate
Sheila commenced as a BJP Associate in 1970 teaching the Juniors. When Mrs. Doris Masters retired in 1973, Sheila became the only teacher of the Club for many years. Sheila also successfully competed in Ladies and prior to Physie taught all forms of dance in Wollongong, including ballet and tap. After 50 Years of teaching in 2019 Sheila retired from Syllabus teaching. Sheila teaches the Ladies Gentle Exercise Classes.
CANDICE WOLFSON
BJP Associate
Candice has done physical culture herself for over 55 years and commenced as a BJP Associate in 1975. Candice also sits on the Board of Bjelke Peterson School of Physical Culture, the association to which Gladesville Ryde Physie belongs. Candice is a part of the team that teaches Ladies Syllabus.
DANI STEWART
BJP Associate
Dani has been enjoying Physical Culture for over 30 years – 15 years as a junior and over 15 years as an adult, where she has successfully competed in many individual and team competitions. Dani became a BJP Associate in 2017 and is part of the teams that teach the Senior Syllabus (13 Years to Open Senior) and Ladies Syllabus.
SAM REDWIN
BJP Associate
Sam found Physie shortly after arriving to Australia from the UK. Gladesville Ryde Physie provided Sam an opportunity to challenge herself and learn a new form of dance and movement. "As someone who moved away from friends and family, the club has provided a supportive, caring family environment which I am proud to be part of.” Sam's enthusiasm and love of her new found sport grew further as she joined the Teaching Team in 2021. Sam is part of the team that teaches our Preschoolers and Junior Syllabus (5 - 12 Years).
BAILEE FLECKNOE
BJP Associate
Bailee is a forever Physie girl who started her journey with the club when she was only 3 years old, and she now competes in the Senior Syllabus section. Bailee has also trained in ballet, jazz, and contemporary. Bailee hopes she can be a positive role model and young mentor for the students. Bailee shares her love for Physie with 3 generations in her family, following in the (pointed) footsteps of her grandmother Sheila, a BJP associate. Bailee become an Associate in 2022 and is part of the teams that teach our Junior Syllabus (9-12yrs) and Senior Syllabus (13yr-1st Yrs).
KERRI McDERMOTT
BJP Associate
Kerri has done physie since she was 3 years old and her passion for this sport is still as strong today as it was in her first class as a preschooler. Kerri has competed in countless team competitions, and individually at Club, State and National level at The Opera House. Kerri joined our teaching team in 2023 bringing with her many years of experience, but most of all a love and enthusiasm for teaching and supporting our teaching team and members to be their best. Kerri is part of the team that teaches Ladies Syllabus.
MICHELLE SHANNON
BJP Associate
Michelle’s love of Physie started when she was 7 and still loves to work hard in class, compete, make friends and have fun at Physie. Michelle is an accomplished performer and has competed in individual and team competitions for well over 40 years and is still competing! Michelle loves the opportunity to perform because it is a wonderful way to showcase the hard work done all year. It is also a time to support team mates and friends whilst having fun and building life long memories. Michelle has over 16 years experience teaching Physie and joined the Gladesville Ryde Teaching Team in 2023 where she is part of the team that teaches Open Seniors as well as assisting across Junior Syllabus (5-12yrs).
ABBY ANDERSON
BJP Associate
After three years as a class helper, Abby became a BJP Associate in 2024 and is part of the team that teaches our Preschoolers and Junior Syllabus (5-8yrs). Abby started Physie when she was 5 and now dances with our Club learning the 15yr - 1st Yr syllabus. Abby is a very dedicated and successful physie girl competing at all levels of individual and team competitions as a junior. Abby has also trained in jazz ballet and is a regular dancer at the annual Ryde School Spectacular. Abby loves physie as it challenges her and builds her confidence whilst having fun. Abby is looking forward to rising to the challenge of encouraging the juniors to be the best they can be.
